Hot vs. Cold Yerba Mate

ALLUBI Editorial Team

Yerba mate can be enjoyed hot or cold. Choose the method that fits your day; temperature alone does not tell you the caffeine content.

Hot mate

Traditional hot mate uses a cup and bombilla with repeated refills. Start with brewing water around 158–176°F (70–80°C), then allow the drink to cool to a comfortable sipping temperature. Follow the traditional guide.

Cold mate and tereré

Tereré is a cold-water mate tradition especially associated with Paraguay. Place yerba in a cup, insert a bombilla, and add cold drinking water to the moistened area. Refill as you sip. Ice and mint are optional additions.

Iced filtered mate

Prefer a regular glass? Make a French press infusion, strain it, cool it, and serve over ice. Ice dilutes the flavor, so adjust the next brew to your preference. Refrigerate prepared drinks promptly and enjoy them fresh.

Choose your kit

A cup with a bombilla suits traditional sipping. The 1L thermos carries hot or cold water for refills. Check the product pages for included items.
