Beginner’s Guide to Yerba Mate

ALLUBI Editorial Team

Your first mate can be simple: choose loose-leaf yerba, a brewing method, and a strength you enjoy.

1. Know what you are buying

ALLUBI offers Paraguayan loose-leaf yerba mate with stems, called con palo. It is a naturally caffeinated infusion with an earthy, grassy taste. Read what yerba mate is.

2. Choose a method

  • Use what you own: a French press or tea infuser lets you make a filtered mug.
  • Try the traditional ritual: use a mate cup and bombilla, then refill with water as you sip.
  • Prefer cold drinks: try tereré or an iced filtered brew.

3. Pick the right product

A 250g bag works with your own brewing equipment. The starter set includes yerba, cup, and bombilla. The complete set adds a thermos.

4. Start light

For a filtered mug, try 1–2 teaspoons per 8 fl oz (240 mL), steeped around 3–5 minutes. This is a taste suggestion, not a caffeine dose. Use less or steep briefly if it tastes too strong.

5. Brew and care

Follow the French press recipe or traditional steps. Clean equipment after use, and keep dry yerba sealed in a cool, dry place.

Before you order

Check the product’s included items, choose an available color, and review return eligibility. Shipping options and the final cost depend on your delivery address at checkout. ALLUBI operates online and ships orders.
