How to Clean Your Mate Cup and Bombilla

ALLUBI Editorial Team

Clean drinkware makes the next brew easier. These instructions suit ALLUBI’s stainless steel mate cup and bombilla; natural gourds and wooden cups need different care.

After every session

  1. Discard used yerba promptly.
  2. Wash the cup with warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge.
  3. Rinse thoroughly and dry before putting it away.
  4. Rinse the bombilla from both ends and use a narrow cleaning brush to remove particles inside.

For a slow or blocked straw

Soak the bombilla in warm soapy water, brush the inside, and rinse until water flows freely. Do not force a blocked straw or use sharp tools that could damage the filter.

Protect the finish

Hand washing is the conservative choice unless the product’s care instructions explicitly allow a dishwasher. Avoid abrasive pads, harsh chemicals, and prolonged soaking of coated exteriors. Do not microwave metal drinkware.

Does stainless steel need curing?

No traditional gourd-curing ritual is needed. Wash it before first use. Keep damp leaves out of stored drinkware.

Thermos care

Wash the lid and bottle opening carefully, rinse, and dry with the lid off. Follow any instructions supplied with the thermos; do not submerge parts that are not intended for immersion.
